What was your first day at FFRC like? What Kaya Run # was it?
“Kaya Run #41. My first interaction was with Azaria, who noticed my singlet was from Seth James DeMoor, a running content YouTuber. It was a rare sight since not many local runners knew him. The run had all kinds of weather—rain and shine. We did loops at Fort Canning, with some downhill and elevation. I realised this run club offered something I wouldn’t get from running alone: a group of people waking up early just to finish something fun 🙃”
“Kaya run #44! First time tackling hills—left me breathless and with some unforgettable (and slightly traumatic) memories 🥲 Made me appreciate the diverse running routes Azaria plans for us, and how he always includes a little surprise to spice up the runs!”
“I found out about FFRC through Instagram and joined for the 1st Anniversary run on 3rd September 2023. I was impressed by the organization and collaborations, and loved the community and vibes—made friends on the first day! I then joined the Saturday Kaya Runs, starting with Kaya Run #39, where Azaria approached me in G2. I felt very welcomed.”
What do you enjoy from being a Toastie?
“Running can be intimidating without guidance. As Toasties, we’re there to set the pace, build a supportive running group, and give people a reason to come back each week. We also help explore new running routes.”
“It’s comforting to know I’m not alone in this journey. It’s a race we’re all running together—physically, mentally, and emotionally”
“Being part of various running events and collaborations gave me the opportunity to make more connections within the running and fitness community.”
Favorite Kaya Toast place?
“So far, I don’t have a favourite Kaya Toast place. Which is the reason why i am still exploring with the rest every Saturday. ”
“OOOH mine has to be FullyBooked in Potong Pasir—they achieve the perfect butter-to-kaya ratio in their toast, and the bread is always toasted to golden perfection. Their soft-boiled eggs are consistently spot-on, and the cozy ambiance makes it an ideal spot for a morning coffee break!”
“Yakun Kaya Toast. Love their crunchy bread toast. It is all around Singapore and you can never go wrong.”
